What Motivates Change?

What moves you to change? What motivates you to improve and make things better? What makes you want to experience something different... something pleasant... the best. Discomfort, or even pain. That's how it is in an organization. The circumstance that calls for change in your company is pain.

Pain in the organization can mean many things, such as conflict, low profits or uncertainty. And it's noisy. When somebody is hurting, they would complain. There is noise. That's how it might be among your employees. Your workers may not be blatantly noisy, but you could sense an erratic undercurrent. A miasma pervades in the workplace because of dissatisfied, unmotivated and unhappy employees. And you can't expect such a workforce to be optimally productive. It is bound to affect your business and profits in an unpleasant way.

Two Fundamental Elements Of Business Evolution

Is the situation calling for a changed leadership in your organization? In a dynamic economy and market and in a rapidly advancing world, a business sole choice is to evolve. To move with the times. Adjusting your leadership and instigating business change and evolution begins with you. The basic formula goes:

Your evolution + organizational culture evolution = Business evolution

Adjustment from you as a leader- the first step- needs you to clarify your core values. Sort out connects or disconnects in the organization. Adjustment effectively takes place if there is clarity. Then comes the evolution of the organizational culture- the human aspect of your business. Business economics is essentially about profit, sales and efficiency. Organizational culture is the human side and the ecological aspect of a business. You cannot undermine the significance of organizational culture. Many organizations have collapsed because they failed to nurture their culture. Weak organizational cultures can lead to the downfall of a business. Balance in running a business is integral wherein economic results are obtained in ways that inspire employees and develop trust. The key that opens the door to innovation, creativity and loyalty is culture.

Evolution Means Choosing To Adjust

Evolving your business means you choose to adjust along the way. Organizations can evolve, and they must evolve. An organization has two basic choices- either to evolve or die. In world history, you can find a long list of civilizations, countries and organizations that have gone extinct. You wouldn't want your organization to be included in that list.

Some organizations might even think that are evolving, when in fact they are stuck. The general cause of death is staying stuck, or stagnation. Choose to adjust and evolve to revive your business. There 's what they call birth pains or growing pains, but don't they all pass? The struggle, the pain, when surpassed brings new life and growth - with the right guiding hands and companions to help throughout the process.
